I’m an addict. I watch 1 or 2 episodes every day and that is the crown of my day. I enjoy her witty humor, her everyday looking and the charm of the 80ies. No cellphones, no buggy jeans, no crack addicts, though for some reasons no mini skirts and no loud disco music either which was kind of a characteristic of those years, even in Cabot Cove. I also tend to think that this was the last TV series without African American and Asian actors. Even the cleaning ladies are white! Though the scenarios lack the originality sometimes, Jessica always has a heart warming smile for us.

I’ve never watched a single episode of Murder, She Wrote. So, as far as I know, your theory could be spot-on.

In fact, I’m making the decision to treat it as the unvarnished truth.

If anyone ever asks me what Murder, She Wrote is about, I’ll give them your theory.:-)

I agree with you on Sweeney Todd. pretty much anything Angela does is better than what someone does after her. I remember when Beauty & the Beast went to Broadway, my friend and I listened to the cast album and said “We miss Angela Lansbury”.

I’m not sure abuot Jessica, but I’m pretty sure Angela herself made a deal with the devil. She’s a preternaturally enjoyable actress — Gaslight, The Manchurian Candidate, etc.

All these folks praising the Tim Burton Sweeney Todd need to rent the DVD of the old Broadway cast. Sorry to say, but wack-ass Helena Bonham Carter is unwatchable & unlistenable in comparison to Angela’s show-stopping performance.

BTW, the best old people mystery show of all time has got to be Quincy! Jack Klugman kicks ass!
