really awesome, and i have no problem with a humor piece being written with the POV of a straight male when 90%+ of fantasy heros are the same

I'd love to see an updated one that reflects a differently gendered or otherwise non-mainstream viewpoint. That's one of the reasons I've asked about a heroine's version. Someone want to write one? Or contribute pieces in the comments that I can assemble with appropriate credit)?

Wow, this list is pretty intensely gendered, in a way I don't remember the Evil Overlord's one being. (That one has something about not marrying the princess, yes, but I thought there were a lot of gender-neutral ones, like shooting the hero, not monologuing, etc. I'll have to check.) I'll look forward to the Heroine's list, but I have to wonder why we need two lists.

Put another way, does Evil have less of a glass ceiling than Heroism? I might send in an application.

This hero sounds like a cross between the Scarlet Pimpernel and Richard Nixon. Is #40 (faking one's own death) not as popular as it used to be?

Long over-due! The villain's checklist is hilarious, but if these two lists were followed by writers, we would never have another sword-and-sorcery--or romance-- book again!

Looking forward that the Heroine's version. Possibly one for a side-kick at some later point?
