Good review!
I enjoyed this game. It kept me interested, and it convinced me that Mario games can still be cool and also challenging after the total piece of crap that was Super Mario Sunshine.

Besides the fun game play I was just mesmerized by the unique physics the gamemakers had set up. For instance, on some of the tinier planetoids you can take a running jump and actually go into a slowly degrading orbit as the trajectory of your fall is affected by the gravity and you can make it around several times before you land again.

I was glad to see that they'd stuck mostly with the Mario 64 play controls, with a couple exceptions. That play system was so solid for this sort of game it didn't need any improvements.
