Glenn, although some of my stories are sparked by dreams, this one wasn’t, as far as I know. But it’s possible that the story has that effect simply because I’ve been writing dreams into so many of my tales.

At the end, I found the same comfort as the character. Something was still missing, but at least I knew what it was. In real life, I never do figure out just what is missing. I always need, but I never understand exactly what it is that I need. I have always suspected that was a fundamental aspect of the human condition. Your story did much to reinforce that notion.

On other thing, and I might not have noticed this if I hadn’t read the story just after waking from an afternoon nap. The story had the feel of a captured dream. Is that what happen, Mari? Did you capture a dream and share it with us? How very generous of you.
