I love the format of this story, the diary entries really resonate. I also love the wistfulness that comes through the quest narrative. Good job Nicole, I always like your stories!

It took me a little while to get into this story, but once I did, I really enjoyed it. I love the image of the wedding cake full of bees, and the revolution later using wedding cake shaped ordnance. I also thought the Raccoon’s speech was really great–maybe harrowing even–and an interesting counterpoint to the also moving section where the narrator talks about the Raccoon’s spirit living on. And the ending–wow.
