In this episode, a desperate No. 2 is driven to extremes, inflicting dangerous experiments on No. 6 to manipulate him through his dreams.
In this episode, the viewer is made complicit with No. 2 and his minions, who are also watching the Prisoner on a screen of their own. We also see McGoohan play the character differently from usual. Assuming that he’s been aware of the plan the whole time, do you think this version of the Prisoner is any closer to his true nature, when he isn’t trying to outlast and outwit his opponents? Or is it six of one, half a dozen of the other?
